Matthew Markham Roy. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Matt's life at his mother's home in Tulsa on November 26 from 1-3 PM. Matt passed away in Florida on August 29 from a brain tumor. Matt, and twin brother Chris, "the Roy Boys", were born to John and Florence Roy on May 18, 1955. A 1973 Hale High School graduate, he went to OU, pledged Delta Tau Delta, and earned an accounting degree with a CPA designation. He married, moved to Dallas and worked in the accounting field. He remarried with his work path turning to accounting software and a move to Florida. His jobs took him all over the world, brought him close friends and a fondness for golf. Matt was genuinely interested in people around him. As the director of Habitat for Humanity insightfully described him "Matthew was not only about building houses. He was about building relationships". In recent years he became a devout Catholic and this year celebrated 26 years of marriage with Tricia. Matt was passionately involved with Habitat for Humanity and Hearts Out to Haiti. The people of Haiti touched his soul deeply during rescue/medical missions after the hurricane and earthquake. Matt set a true example of work ethic, compatibility, composure, humor, love and compassion. A beautiful funeral mass was held in Florida with loving eulogies and burial of his ashes at the church. In honor of Matt's life, donations can be made to Hearts Out to Haiti (through Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church/Indialantic FL), Habitat for Humanity, or William Childs Hospice House/Palm Bay FL.
