Loette was born March 16, 1906 to Ula and Addie Hyatt in Athol, Kootenai County, Idaho. She was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Snohomish where she attended Central School.
She married Earl Averill on May 15, 1922. They raised four sons while Earl worked in the greenhouse business, including Averill Floral, and played professional baseball. After his retirement, they operated Averill Motel in Snohomish for many years.
Loette's greatest joy was watching Earl's induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY in 1975. They remained happily married until his death in 1983. Loette delighted in her Monday card games at Bauer's, playing Bingo, and doing fine handiwork.
Loette is survived by her four sons Howard and Martha of Snohomish, Bernie of Mercer Island, Earl and Patty of Auburn, and Lester and Ann of Snohomish. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by grandson Jim Averill.
Private graveside services will be held at G.A.R. Cemetery. An open house for Loette's family and friends will be held at Hearthside of Snohomish, 1124 Pine from noon to 2p.m. on Saturday February 17, 2001. Please stop by and share your stories with the family.
Information regarding an open-house for Loette's family and friends will be available soon. The family wishes to especially thank the staff of Hearthside of Snohomish for their warm and loving care of Loette during the past three and one-half years.
