Daughter of; Ole Jenson Olsen and Martha Olasdatter.

Newspaper-Death Notice, Mason City Transcript; Mrs. Dorothy Lund, widow of Theodore Lund, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Patterson, in Ansley 6 Jan 1929. Mrs. Lund's maiden name was Olsen. She was a native of Norway, born 14 Apr 1855. She was a sister of Ole Olsen of Mason City and of Henry Olsen of Port Townsend, Washington. The Lund family were early homesteaders on the Basin and for a number of years maintained their home in that locality. Later moving to Ansley. Mr. Lund had died some years ago. The earlier settlers of the Basin in this part of Custer County have a kind remembrance of Mrs. Lund and her family. She was a women devoted to her family and home and filled her place in the world as wife and mother, neighbor and friend, in a happy way. The funeral services were held at Ansley Tuesday and her remains interned in the church yard on the Basin.

Dorothy Olsen, daughter of Ole and Marth Olsen was born in Ullensager, Norway, 14 April 1855 and passed away 5 Jan 1929, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, 22 days. She was married in Norway to Theodor Lund in 1879. Immediately after their marriage they came to America, landing in Brooklyn, NY. She labored there while her faithful husband came to the Black Hill Basin in Custer County to prepare a home for them. He homesteaded there and established their first home in America. They arrived at their home 1 Aug 1881. Five years later they moved four miles west of Ansley where they lived happily together until 23 Jan 1901 when her husband passed away, leaving her alone to rear and educate her family. About 15 years ago she moved to Ansley where she spent the rest of her life. She was converted in the Methodist Church in Brooklyn, New York in 1880, but remained in the faith of her parents which was the Lutherans Church until she moved west of Ansley where she was Baptized and united with the Happy Hollow Church of God, later uniting with the Church of God at Berwyn. She leaves to mourn her parting five children, 21 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. The children are; Martha T. Jones of Broken Bow, Clara O Patterson of Ansley, Karl Lund of Holley, Oregon, Ella L Loar of Broken Bow, and Anna M Price of Ansley. Edwin T Lund who passed away in 1921 aged 26 years. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Ansley conducted by Elder H M Haycraft of Henry, Nebraska, assisted by Elder J W Pirnie of Weissert, Nebraska, and Elder John C Armour.
