Born c.1840, 24-year-old Civil War veteran Henry Ball had enlisted in the 7th New Jersey Volunteers, Company B, as a private and had risen to the rank of corporal. Sadly, he died early in 1863 of consumption, when success of the Union cause was still uncertain. A marble gravestone in addition to a flat granite military marker and large bronze Grand Army of the Republic medallion mark the place of his interment.
