Robert Lee Atkins was born the 8th of 9 children to Richard Pinkney and Barbara Jane McRae Atkins March 3, 1863 at Marion, Alabama.
He married the love of his life, Ida Ann Flake, in Hillsboro, Texas in 1897. He moved to Runnels County, Texas in 1906 and bought land near Wilmeth, Texas. He farmed that land until his death, May 12, 1925.
He had eight children; Grady Lee, Ruth Ann, Richard Pinkney, Manor Guy, Fred, Donald Flake, Barbara Leona and Susan Lanell Atkins.
