Joseph W. (DadDad) Evans, 87, passed away at his home on December 23, 1979. He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Elva M. Evans, daughters Elaine E. Keegan, Kathryn Hanscom, and Elizabeth Heacock. He was preceded in death by his only son Joseph H. Evans, father Joseph S. Evans, and mother Katie Sands Evans.
Joseph was a long-time resident of Norwood, Pennsylvania. He was the caretaker of Norwood United Methodist Church for a long time. After his marriage to Elva in 1916, he ran a grocery store called Evans' Store in Geigertown, Pennsylvania. He was also active in the Norwood Fourth of July Association, the Norwood Republican Club, and was a founder of the Norwood Swim Club. Joseph retired from the Baldwin Locomotive Works.
