Automotive Pioneer. Noted General Motors design chief who developed the first Corvette. He also is credited with creating tail fins. The 1927 LaSalle, and the 1957 Chevy Bel Air were also designed by Mr. Earl. He is considered by some to be the third most infuential figure in U.S. automotive history, behind Henry Ford and Alfred Sloan. He has been "resurrected" for new GM/Buick commercials. In real life, he was an imposing figure, who dressed immaculately and was known as a stern taskmaster by his staff.
