MRS. ABBIE FIELD DIES AFTER AN ILLNESS OF SIX WEEKS.
Aged Resident of The Old Ladies Home in Muscatine, Iowa, Passes Away.
Mrs. Abbie E. Field was born in Peacham, Vt., June 13th, 1821, and died February 21, 1908.
Mrs. Field had been a resident of the Old Ladies' Home for five years, where she has endeared herself in the hearts of many. Here a brief but impressive service was held Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The floral offerings were beautiful and the musical selections of the best. Mrs. Field made many friends by her cheerful and sunshiny nature that irradiated every one with whom she came in contact. Her chief charm was an unfailing good nature, instinct, with love, generosity and self-sacrifice. She was a model wife, mother and friend. It has been truthfully said that she was equally entertaining to both old and young.
She is survived by a son, Frank P. Field, Railway postal clerk of Muscatine, Iowa, and a daughter, Mrs. H.L. Stoaks, Oskaloosa, Iowa, who accompanied her remains to her former home, Neponset, Ill., where beautiful services were held on Monday, February 24th and where her many friends gathered to pay the last tribute of love and respects, in the Congregational church of which she was a faithful member for many years. She was laid to rest in the Floral Hill cemetery by the side of her husband, Nathan Field, who died July 15th, 1888.
