(special thanks to Dennis Brooke for the following info) Private John H. SHELTON - Inscription on tombstone #1514 reads “J. H. SHELTON CO. A HAY’S CAV. TENN. C.S.A.” He was taken prisoner at Hillsboro, Tennessee in January 1865. Hillsboro, Tennessee is located in Coffee County, Tennessee, this unit was formed in December 1864. Tombstone should read: “JOHN. H. SHELTON CO. A HAYS CAV. BATT’N. TENN. C.S.A.”
