Harland Bailey, 81 of Benton, born October 22, 1911 a son of Wilburn P. and Della E. (Dillingham) Bailey, died Thursday, March 4, at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton, AR.
Mr. Bailey was a resident of Benton for 3 years and was a self-employed general contractor.
Survivors include his wife, Melba Helms Bailey of Benton; Six sons, Tim Bailey of Mountain View, Ronnie Bailey, Benkie Bailey, Harvey Bailey, George Bailey and Corkey Bailey all of Alpena; five daughters, Jean Starkey of Mountain Home, Billie Wilcox of Alpena, Bobbie Auman of Fayetteville, Fay Smothers of Green Forest and Paulette Bryant of Alpena; a step daughter, Nez Hodshiro of Benton; one brother, Arlie Bailey of Colorado; a sister-in-law, Mabel Jenkins of Alpena, 26 grandchildren; four step grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Oza V. Snow Bailey and two grandchildren.
Services were held at the Osage Baptist Church Saturday, March 6 with Brother Lannie Younger officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel, Harrison.
Pallbearers were Terry Wilcox, Gary Wilcox, Wayne Starkey, Dean Shook, Keith Smothers, and Kelly Smothers. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
