World War II United States Army Air Corps Veteran. As a young child he relocated with his family to live in Bonsall, California. At the out break of World War II, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in 1942 and after flight training was commissioned an officer pilot. On April 25, 1944, while on a mission with the 527th Fighter Squardon in his Republic P-47D Thunderbolt he was killed in action over Sicily, Italy. 2nd Lieutenant Brumley died one day before his 21st birthday. Robert returned to California on August 25, 1948 and after full military services, was laid to rest in Oceanview Cemetery, Oceanside, California.
