BEIERLE – Allan Gus
July 17, 1927 – July 12, 2011

Allan Gus Beierle of Calgary, passed away suddenly in his home on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the age of 83 years.

Al was born in Bateman, SK, but had resided in Calgary, AB for the past fifty-one years. As a young lad, he survived the dirty 30's and the early 40's working as a farm laborer for a childless, elderly couple and later painted elevators for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. During the later 40's and through the 50's, Al obtained his Barber's certificate in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to Hodgeville, Saskatchewan where he commenced cutting hair from his father's Pool Hall. He also owned and operated a Cockshutt Farm Equipment Dealership, GMC Pontiac Buick Dealership, Fridgidaire Appliance Franchise and a Black Angus Cow/Calf Operation. In 1949, Al married Pauline Korb and they had four children. Al sold everything and in July 1960, moved the family to Calgary, Alberta where he purchased a Royalite Service Station at 17th Avenue and 29th Street S.W. During the 60's, through to the 80's, he continued with the service station and owned and operated Al's Auto Sales. His pride and joy was to breed/train/race winning thoroughbred horses at the Edmonton/Calgary race tracks. Al was married to Pauline for thirteen years, Ramona Rasmussen for approximately fourteen years and he also shared his life with Eve (Honey) Neilson for approximately twenty years, whom all predeceased him. Al is survived by all his children, Sharron (Robert Thompson) Cummings, Lynne Kelly, Darcy Sherriff and Lindsay (Joanne) Beierle; four grandchildren, Jeanne (Erich Moulder) Cummings, Brett (Julie) Cummings, Casey Beierle, Tara Beierle; two great-grandchildren Braden and Izabel Cummings; one brother Donald; one half-brother Ricky; and one half-sister Terilyn. Al was predeceased by his parents George Beierle and his mother Clementina Lang and his only sister, Olive Ewert. Al will be lovingly remembered for his fun loving teasing nature that showed with a gleam in his eyes and the drive to always win when playing crib and pool. At Al's request, no service will be held but a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank and show their appreciation to Karen Thompson (neighbor), Denise Boutet, Ivan Sulea, and all his pool buddies for sharing and giving so much of themselves to our Dad. In living memory of Allan Beierle, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
