OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Phoebe Allison Asher, 65, of Oceanside, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Dayton and lived in Huron and Sandusky, where she attended school. She was a 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School. She attended Bowling Green State University, and the Ohio State University and graduated from Grace Downs Care Airlines School. She trained as an airline attendant for Capitol Airlines, for which she worked. She moved to the San Diego area more than 30 years ago, after living and working in Washington, D.C., and Cleveland areas. She was an inactive member of Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky, where she had taught Sunday school. She was a former member of First Mates of the Sandusky Sailing Club.
In California, she was a member of the San Marcos Grange and San Diego County Grange, where she held various offices, and the State of California Grange. She was employed by several companies as a mystery shopper, was a secretary and a pre-school aide.
She is survived by one brother, Dr. W. Michael Asher of Elberta, Ala.; her companion of many years, Don Knudsen of Oceanside; a niece and nephews; and other relatives, including her cousin, Martha Ulrich of Huron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Huske Asher and William A. Asher.
Services were June 23, 1999, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel, Fallbrook, Calif., with the Rev. Lloyd J. Phipps of Emmanuel Baptist Church presided.
Interment was in Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.
