Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company E, 1st US Artillery for action at Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota on December 29, 1890. His citation reads "Went to the rescue of the commanding officer who had fallen severely wounded, picked him up, and carried him out of range of the hostile guns."
