Florence Evelyn Shipley was born December 15, 1922, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, to John and Bertha (Monk) Shipley. The family moved frequently and lived in various places including Iowa, Montana, Illinois and Minnesota. When Florence was a teenager, they lived in Staples, MN, where she attended high school. Florence then made her home in Wadena, MN, where she worked hard to provide for her four daughters, who she raised as a single parent. She worked at a local hotel, in a café, at a nursing home and provided daycare for several families.

Florence enjoyed embroidery, gardening, and singing in the church choir. She had a strong and deep faith. She also enjoyed her Saturday afternoon bingo with her tablemates, at Rosewood on Broadway.

In the fall of 1970, Florence moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area where she made her home. She worked for Eventide Lutheran Home and at the Super 8 Motel. In 2003, she became a resident of Rosewood on Broadway.

Florence is survived by her four daughters, Nancy (Pat) Gerten, Burnsville, MN, Vicki (Tom) Zeigler, Blaine, MN, Sharon (Dave) Remmen, Fargo, and Diane (Darwin) Stelzer, West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Edwards, Lauri Petersen, Pam (Brian) Hutton, Brian Zeigler, Melanie Remmen, Jason Remmen, Rick Stelzer, Jeff Stelzer, and Staci Stelzer; eight great-grandchildren, Reed Edwards, Brayden Edwards, Kelly Petersen, Henry Hutton, Heidi Hutton, Grant Hutton, Garrett Hutton, and Cedar Remmen; many nieces and nephews; and Amanda Diemert and her two daughters, Lauren and Ashlyn.
