US Congressman. Elected to represent Maryland in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1871 to 1873. Also served as a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals from 1854 to 1863, Delegate to Maryland State Constitutional Convention in 1867, Member of the Maryland State House of Delegates in 1870, and Justice of the District of Columbia Supreme Court from 1885 to 1889.
