Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army in Company D, 7th US Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Little Big Horn, Montana on June 25-26, 1876. His citation reads "Voluntarily brought water to the wounded, under fire."
