Mr. F. Lowrie was born in Scotchland and came to America with wife, Jane, in 1848. They lived in Pennsylvania for one year then moved to Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, in 1849. When he died, he left his wife with nine children, the youngest but 6 months old. Through hard work she was able to keep the family together and in 1871 she moved to 2 miles south of Centerville, Dakota Territory. Some of her adult children followed her, as she followed her daughter, Jane and husband, Henry Frinkman (Frankman). An interesting story is how she served breakfast pancakes to Jesse James and his gang just before their last unsucessful robbery attempt in Minnesota.
