MELVIN COOPER DIES OF HEART ATTACK
Monday afternoon Melvin Cooper of Fillmore, aged 21, suffered a heart attack while sitting at the fountain of the Thornton Drug store. He and his companion, Leo V. Coombs, had driven down from Lynndyl and he was apparently feeling normal while sitting at the fountain. Suddenly he turned pale and slumped from the stool, Mr. Coombs assisting him to the floor. The druggists called for a doctor and administered heart stimulants, but Mr. Cooper was pronounced dead when the doctor arrived a few minutes later. Mr. Cooper had worked for some time at the Delta Cafe, but recently he had been employed by Mr. Coombs at the U.P. Cafe in Lynndyl. He is survived by his father Lewis Cooper of Fillmore; two brothers, Gerald and Lloyd and his sisters, Mrs. Maxine Hare, all of Fillmore. The body was taken to Fillmore and interment will be there.
