U.S. Congressman. Moving to the State of Washington, in 1908, he graduated from the law department of the University of Washington, 1911, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Seattle Washington. He was chief deputy county treasurer of King County, (1911-12) and served as chairman of the Republican county committee of King County. During World War I, he served overseas as a 1st Lieutenant and battalion adjutant in the 26th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army. In 1931, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-second Congress, serving until 1933. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he was Mayor of Seattle, 1948 and practiced law until his death.
