Drucilla Jane Greenhaw Robb (1935 - 2011)

Drucilla Greenhaw Robb, 75, beloved mother of Lisa C. Self, Lynne C. Newman and Jeffrey J. Robb, passed away at her home in Georgetown on Friday, April 22, 2011. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Dru was born July 7, 1935, in Fort Worth to Frank and Neva Greenhaw. She grew up in Fort Worth and was very active at Pascal High School. Dru loved the theater and went on to TCU where she majored in English. During her time at TCU, she married Van Zandt Jarvis Williams and had twin daughters, Lisa and Lynne, in 1953. In the late 1950s, Dru and Van divorced. Dru stayed in Fort Worth and Van travelled to Hollywood where he starred in such TV shows as "Surfside 6" and "The Green Hornet." Dru soon fell in love with TCU football great, Joe Robb, who had been drafted into the NFL in the late '50s and played on the Philadelphia Eagles team, which won the NFL championship in 1960. Joe and Dru married and they became an NFL family moving from Fort Worth to Philadelphia and then St. Louis where Joe played for the St. Louis Cardinals. It was during their years in St. Louis that their son, Jeffrey, joined the family. Dru always talked about how exciting and enjoyable her "“NFL years" were to her, as the players' wives and families became very close. Football remained a passion for her throughout her life and she became a huge Houston Texans fan. In addition, she quickly became a UT Longhorn fan upon moving to the Georgetown area, although the TCU Horned Frogs were a close second on any Saturday. Dru worked in the real estate business as a broker in the Houston area for many years, and for over 17 years worked as a marketing rep at Texas American Title until she retired in 2004. She moved to Sun City from Sugar Land to be near her family. Dru was a master bridge player and also loved beating all competitors in a "friendly game" of gin rummy or poker. She also played a mean game of Scrabble â€" and hated to lose (which was not often). Fishing also brought her great joy, no matter the size of the fish. Drucilla was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Robb; and her grandparents.

Survivors: Daughters, Lisa C. Self and Lynne C. Newman and husband, Gary; son, Jeffrey Robb; granddaughters, Angie Newman, Kristin Switzer and husband, Chris, Nikki Newman and Kimsey Self; brother, Frank P. "Buddy" Greenhaw III and wife, Nancy; nephew, Frank P. "Pete" Greenhaw IV; niece, Sally Bryant and husband, Neill; and great-nephew, Jack Bryant.
