BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES:

When Jefferson's wife Lilly May (McBride) Light passed away, her grandaughter said they took her to a relative's parlor in Freedom for the funeral service. A bad rain flooded the roads, so the men put her casket in a boat and used horses to pull her through the water to the cemetery.

Jeff Davis is buried in Fish Creek or "Light" cemetery in Freedom, right behind the pig pen. Some of the few stones there were hand carved. It's much easier to get to than McBride graves which are right behind a bull pen.
