Gustaf Erick was the oldest of five children born to Gustav Anton (1835-1909)and Katarina Magdalena (Eriksdotter) (1831-?) Nordstrom. Gust was a farmer, arriving from Sweden in 1892 with his wife and their first two children aboard the "Gallia" docking at Ellis Island after a difficult ocean journey. Erick and wife Johanna homesteaded a section of farmland in Swede Township, Kulm, ND. He and Eva Johanna Nilsson were married April 4, 1889 in Amsele, Sweden. About 1920 the family moved to Inglewood California. They had ten children in total, of which two Mildred
and Aurora had died as youngsters.
