WHITEWATER — Mrs. Allen Cogswell, 73, former local resident,
died Monday in her home at 2408 W. Wells St.. Milwaukee.
The former Edith Lyle Bowerman, daughter of Stephen and Henrietta Nickerson Bowerman, was born Feb. 26, 1880. She was married to Mr. Cogswell in 1900 in Janesville. They operated a creamery on the Town Line Road south of Whitewater for 10 years and then spent eight years in Whitewater, where she was a college fraternity house mother. They moved to Milwaukee 17 years ago.
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Ehlenberg, Brookfield, Ill. Mrs. Doris Basford and Mrs. Jessie Knappmiller, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Mildred Monogue, Janesville; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be a t 2 p.m Thursday in the Skindingsrude and Lein Funeral Home, the Rev. Lewis Douglass officiating. Burial will be in Johnstown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening.
