US Congresswoman. Educated at Arkansas College, she was the first woman elected to the US Congress from Arkansas. In 1929, she was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of her husband William A. Oldfield, serving until 1931. Not seeking to be a candidate for re-nomination, she retired from public service.
