Gladys Rud, 90, of Greenbush, MN, died on Monday, August 23, 2010 in LifeCare-Greenbush Manor in Greenbush, MN.

Gladys Rud was born Gladys B. G. Stromlund, the daughter of Samuel & Anna (Johnson) Stromlund, on April 25, 1920 in Huss Township, Roseau County, rural Strathcona, MN. She grew up and attended the Flaten School near her home. She married Engvald Rud on June 4, 1940 at Thief River Falls, MN. They lived at Donaldson, MN before moving to Greenbush in 1947.

Gladys was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, camping and doing fancywork. She enjoyed flowers and was also an excellent baker. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was a resident of the LifeCare-Greenbush Manor for the past 5-1/2 years.

She is survived by: 2 sons—E. and wife M. Rud of Mora, MN, C. and wife D. Rud of Coon Rapids, MN; 1 daughter—S. and husband V. Everson of Grand Forks, ND; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law—Mabel Stromlund; 2 brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 14, 2003; 4 brothers—Philip, Harry, Walter & Edwin Stromlund and 2 sisters—Doris Johnson & Adlyne Johnson.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, August 28 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating. Linda Sovde was the organist, R. Rud played the guitar and the vocalists were R. & T. Rud. The Pallbearers were Gladys' six grandchildren and the Honorary Pallbearers were her 11 great-grandchildren.

Interment was in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of Greenbush with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorials in memory of Gladys may be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush.
