Son of James and Sally Homes Vogt. Brother of Holly, Casey and Heidi. Chad was an outstanding athlete at Harbor Creek High School in football, basketball and baseball. He received his bachelor's degree in sports management from Slippery Rock University where he continued to excel in sports as well as served as dean for the student advisory council. As quarterback of the Slippery Rock football team he earned All-America honors and was named a first team all-PSAC West selection in 1995 and 1996. He still holds Slippery Rock's single season records for passing attempts, completions and yards. He received a degree in health and physical education from Edinboro University of PA. He played professional football in Germany for the 1998 Paderborn Dolphins. For several years he was an assistant coach for the Harbor Creek High School football team. On June 22, 2004 Chad was inducted into the Erie Metropolitan Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. In 2007 he was selected for the Slippery Rock Athletic Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Erie-Times News All-Century team. Cause of death: injuries due to a fall at work.
