John Wesley Piersall was the father of Jimmy Piersall of the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, New York Mets & California Angels. He died in Newton, Ma while painting his house. He died in his arms. Carl Maldon played him in the movie "Fear Strikes Out" The Jimmy Piersall Story
