Ballet Dancer. He Was one of the most celebrated members of Moscow's Bolshoi Ballet. He studied at the Bolshoi Ballet School before coming a member of the company in 1944. He had already visited Britain with his ballerina wife, Raissa Struchkova, before he appeared in the full Bolshoi Ballet at Covent Garden, London, in 1956 with Galina Ulanova, his Hilarion in "Giselle" and Khan Girel in "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai were enthusiastically acclaimed. He was also a teacher and choreographer, notably of "Lieutenant Kizhe," performed by the Bolshoi in London in 1963.
