Ohio Attorney General, 1895-1900. As Ohio's Attorney General, Monnett was an ardent and progressive reformer and helped to bring suits against Western Union Telegraph and the Standard Oil Trust in the United States Supreme Court. A secondary memorial to him was erected at Monnett Memorial Chapel Cemetery, Crawford County, Ohio.
