David Leland Hathaway was a son of Philip Hathaway (II) and Nancy Miller, who moved from Morristown, New Jersey about the turn of the 19th century. He was one of the founding members of the Somerset Church in 1836, and lived most of his life in the general environs. He married twice, first to Elizabeth Williams in 1829, and after her death, to her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Williams, in 1837. The graveyard is now largely abandoned and the stones broken, in 2010.
