Davenport - Services for Lois A. Bixby, of Davenport, were Dec. 17 at Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
Mrs. Bixby died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus.
Lois Showens was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Davenport. She married Russell Bixby on Aug. 12, 1962, in Davenport.
She worked at Geifman's for 14 years as a meat wrapper. She then worked for the elderly at the Lutheran Home in Davenport for nine years, retiring in 1999. She recently retired from Silvercrest Assisted Living.
She was an avid bingo player.
Survivors include her husband, Russell; children, Cheryl, Michael, Cindy, Ronald, Jeffery and Melissa Bixby, all of Davenport; five grandchildren, Christin, Amanda, Michael Jr., Bixby and Andrew Daniels and Jeffrey Snook; one great-grandchild, Zane Simpson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Kay Showens and Bob and Mary Showens, all of Davenport, Butch and Sharon Showens, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Darrel and Alice Showens, Davenport; and sisters, Ella Haulk, of Davenport, and Mary Thiessen and Evelyn Groenbeck, of Phoenix, Ariz.
