Samuel Henry Myers, who was born at Mansfield, Ohio, January 12, 1842, and died at Des Moines, Iowa, November, 1927, was a farmer; he was a member of Company C, 24th Infantry of Iowa, during the Civil War; his ancestors came from Holland; he was a Republican and took an active part in the civic and political affairs of his community. His mother, Mary (Porter) Myers, was born at Martelle, Linn County, Iowa, August 8, 1846, and died at Dodge, Dodge County, Nebraska, September 8, 1888; she was one of 13 children.
