Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Ruth Beasley of Casey, IL; son, Randy Beasley and wife Holly of Ft. Myers, FL; son, Steven Beasley of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Julia and Kyle Beasley of Ft. Myers, FL; brothers, William Beasley and Robert Beasley and wife Connie and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
Gene worked in the oilfields in his early years. He owned and operated an auto repair business in Aurora, IL until 1981, then he moved to Florida in 1982 where he owned and operated an auto repair business. His love for cars led him to actually drive a stock car on the dirt track in Sycamore, IL. He then moved to Oilfield, IL in 2001 where he renovated the Oilfield Store building and operated a restaurant.
His faith was strong and he attended churches wherever he lived and was currently a member of Salisbury Church, Hutton Campus. In these churches he held positions as trustee, song leader and sang in the choir. He loved spending time with family and especially his two grandchildren and he will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey IL with Rev. Ray Finney officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
