Barbara J. Dow, age 72, long time Tucumcari, NM, resident passed away in Albuquerque, NM, on Friday, December 24, 2010, following an extended illness.
Barbara was born August 1, 1938, in Pedernal, NM. She and her family moved to Forrest, NM, and she graduated from the Forrest High School and soon after moved to Tucumcari where she met and married her husband, James. She was a home maker, but she had also worked for 16 years as a Program Assistant for the ASCS office in Tucumcari. She had been a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Tucumcari. She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother.
Surviving Barbara J. Dow is her husband of 52 1/2 years, James A. Dow of Tucumcari; her daughter, Beverly Dean of Tucumcari; her son, Jerry Dow and wife, Laura of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Derek Landsbury of Amarillo, TX, and Jamie Dow of Albuquerque, NM, along with 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Bruce White of Las Cruces, NM.
She was preceded in death by her son, James A. Dow Jr.; by her parents Marjorie A. and Martin White, and by her grandson, Michael J. Dabau.
Services celebrating her life will be Wednesday morning beginning at 10:00 AM in the Dunn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Miller, minister of the South Georgia Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Pallbearers will be Franklin McCasland, Randy McCasland, Kraig Evetts, A. J. McElroy, Bill Curry and Mike Horne. Interment will be in the family plot of the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
