Clyde Story, 74, Goldendale, a life-long resident and early pioneer of Klickitat county, passed away, at the home of his son, Walter, Tuesday morning, September 29. Clyde had been in ill health for some time, however on Monday evening he was in good spirits and Tuesday morning he walked from his home place to his son's farm, helped with the chores and had breakfast. After breakfast, while assisting in servicing the tractor, he passed away. Death was due to a coronary.

Clyde Story, was born in April, 1890, a short distance from where he made his home. He is a son of John Caleb and Mary Jane Story who came to Klickitat county in the early days from New York state. He was married to Miss Clara Harris, December 25, 1912 and the family now lives in the home formerly owned by his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Harris.
In the early days, Story homesteaded on a piece of land close to where he was born.

He attended the Washington State College institute and has been connected with sheep raising in the valley all his life. He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Pacific Wool Cooperative, Portland, for many years and has been active in community affairs, Grange work and was one of the early Klickitat county 4-H leaders.

He is survived by his widow, Clara; one son, Walter; a brother, Paul Jordan, Orland, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Frank Schlatter, Gardena, Calif., and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at the Knosher Funeral Home, Friday afternoon, 2 p.m.
