Mr. Anthony was born January 2, 1936, in Maryland and was a son of the late Wade H. and Dorothy Hammond Anthony. He had lived in Harrisonburg 17 years.
He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1686 and Eagles Aerie No. 4150. He also served five years in the Navy.
On June 6, 1964, he married the former Loretta Cook, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, James W. Anthony Jr., Harrisonburg, Wade "Rocky" and Monte Anthony, both of Mt. Clinton Pike, two stepdaughters, Cheryl Cook, of Palmyra, Pa., and Lenice Cook of Bridgewater, a stepson, Kelly Cook of Dayton, two sisters, Sandy Jopp and Ann Knotts, both of Denver, Del., a brother, John Schnehl of Spokane, Wash., and four step grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McMullen Funeral Home by the Rev. Eugene Diener. Burial will be in the Mt. Clinton Cemetery.
