He leaves his wife of 36 years, Ruth (Davis) Boyda; his children, John T. Boyda of Oxford, Wendy F. Boyda of Sturbridge, Robin A. Poulin of Bolton, Cynthia B. Swett of Sturbridge, Edith A. Cardwell of Webster, Elaine M. Miles and Laurie L. Miles, both of Worcester; two sisters, Walda A. Boyda of Worcester and Marianne C. Degnan of Palm Bay, FL; 20 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John T. Boyda.
Mr. Boyda was born in Worcester, the son of Walter A. and Anna (Griffin) Boyda. He worked for the United States Post Office in the building maintenance department for 34 years, retiring in 2001.
Mr. Boyda served in the US Army and Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Postal Union, Vietnam Vets of America of Auburn Post 554, Disabled American Veterans, and a lifetime member of the 1st Battalion 6th Infantry Berlin Brigade.
The funeral is Monday, November 29th with a service at Noon in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, November 28th from 3:00 until 6:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Why Me, Inc. Sherry's House, 1152 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
