Robert Leon "Bobby" Gilliland, 41, Christmas Valley, died November 7, 2003 of diabetes in Christmas Valley.
He was born in Stayton to Robert Dallas and Betty Louise Stevenson Gilliland.
He was raised in the Salem area before being honorably discharged as an infantryman in the Army.
He traveled extensivley with his father until settling in Christmas Valley in 1996.
Mr. Gilliland was an accomplished mechanic and worked for various farmers in the Christmas Valley area, helping them maintain their equpment. He also helped his father develop his Christmas Valley property.
He loved his Ford truck, fast cars, and turning wrenches and enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Louise Stevenson Whittington.
Survivors include his father Robert D. Gilliland of Christmas Valley; brothers, Randy, Calvin, Rex, Russell, Rocky and Robin of Albany, and David of Redmond; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
