Wife of John Ruble,Dr C.W.Stephenson,and Samuel Smith,
"Bystander Notes", by Publisher-C. S. Rogers, Thursday, December 6, 1928, Page 2:
"Down in the old City cemetery there sleeps in eternal rest, an unusual group, wife and her three husbands, side by side, in the same lot. The special interest center in the grave of Rev. John Ruble, who was probably the first Methodist minister to occupy this field. Soon after arriving here for his work, he married Miss Dianna Bowen, daughter of Isaac Bowen. Soon after he died and was buried in Burlington. Later the fair Dianna married again, Dr. C. W. Stephenson, who, also, passed on and was buried in the old City cemetery. Mrs. Ruble-Stephenson then had the remains of her first husband translated from Burlington to the family lot, and interred by the side of her second relic. She married a third time, Samuel Smith, who in time died and was reverently laid away beside his two predecessors, where likewise she is sleeping the sleep that lasts eternal. We know of no other instance of a wife and three husbands sleeping together in the same burial lot."

"Bystander Notes", by Publisher-C. S. Rogers, Mt. Pleasant Daily News, Monday, January 20, 1913, Page 2:
"....It will be remembered that Dianna Bowen was married three times, first to Rev. Rubel and shortly widowed, then married a Dr. Stephenson and then a Mr. Smith. She died at the age of but 41 years, her third husband surviving her. Dianna's grave is well marked. On one side of her lies her first husband, Mr. Rubel, and further away Dr. Stepenson, but there appears to be no grave of her last husband, Samuel Smith, but it is known that he was buried by her side. By her side is unquestionably a grave with an unmarked foot marker and where a head stone should be a large tree has grown. Perhaps no stone was ever erected to the memory of Mr. Smith, or perhaps the growth of the tree displaced whatever stone had been placed there."
