Mrs. Fannie V. Oliver, Widow of the late J. W. Oliver, died at her home in Fincastle early Tuesday morning, May 4, 1926, aged 74 years and 6 months. She had been in failing health for more than a year with tuberculosis and was critically ill one week before her death. Mrs. Oliver had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood and was a devoted wife and mother. She was highly respected by all who knew her, particularly by those who where intimate with her through her long life. The deceased is survived by four daughters and two sons - Mrs. H. B. Smith, of Richmond, Va., Mrs. M. A. Anderson, Miss Minnie Oliver and Mrs. C. B. Bosserman of Fincastle, Mr. J. E. Oliver of Alexandria, LA., and Mr. C. F. Oliver, of Marion, Va., also by three brothers, Messrs. C. J. Chittum, of Lexington, Va., Jas. A. Chittum, of Richmond, Va., and Robert Chittum, of Hot Springs, Va.
The funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J. A. Armstrong and Rev. H. F. Gilbert, her pastor Rev. G. E. Pope, being absent. The remains were interred in the Slicer cemetery. The handsome floral offerings entirely covered the grave.
