Mary Craft Oliver, 84, of 326 E. Oak St., died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997 in Columbia Alleghany Regional Hospital. She was born on Feb. 24, 1913 in Covington, daughter of the late John F. Craft and Elfreda Estelle Jones Craft. Mrs. Craft was preceded in death by her husband,Ralph L. Oliver in 1987, four brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class and the Women's Circle of the church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Connie Oliver of Covington and Robert and Joy Oliver of Coto De Caza, Ca.; five grandchildren, Billy and David Oliver, both of Covington, Mary Beth Johnstone of Clemson, S.C., Shawn Oliver of Virginia Beach and Larkann Oliver of Coto De Caza, Ca.; three great-grandchildren, Blake and Blayne Oliver of Covington and Morgan Oliver of Virginia Beach.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James A. Rohne officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Brad Morton, Guy Johnson, Randy Vail, G. C. Fawley, warren Linkous and Leonard Lindstrom. Alternate pallbearers will be Denton Rock, Jack Kirby and Harrison Fridley. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Oliver's name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
