Samuel Morrison Wilbourn, age 83, originator and manufacturer of the well-known Wilbourn riding saddle, died Thursday at the University Hospital, Charlottesville, following an operation. He was a resident of Buena Vista where he was one of the first citizens.

Funeral services were held from the Buena Vista Presbyterian church at 3:00 pm on Sunday with interment in the Lexington cemetery. He had been an officer in the church for 47 years.

Surviving are his wife; Mrs. Mary Trotter Wilbourn; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Abbott of Johnson City, Tenn.; Mrs. W. Clarence Ware of Fairfield; and Mrs. Thomas M. Kirkpatrick of Lexington; and one son, William W. Wilbourn of Roanoke. Three sisters and two brothers also survive: Mrs. R. Parker, Staunton, Mrs. Chas. Newman, Fairfield; Mrs. George Bare, Lexington; Richard Wilbourn, Roanoke and Al Wilbourn of Pa.
