Clyde Bunyan Chittum, 86 of Lexington died Monday, June 15, 1987, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mr. Chittum was born Jan. 14, 1901, in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Newton Fletcher Chittum and Elizabeth Chittum. He was married to the late Sarah Agnor Chittum.

He was a retired boilermaker at a U.S. Navy shipyard and was a member of the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving members of his family include one daughter, Mrs. William Rudulph-Humble of TX, three sons, Clyde K. Chittum and Paul C. Chittum, both of Lexington, and Kenton G. Chittum of Abingdon; one sister, Mrs. Ivy Muterspaw of Lexington; eight granchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Kerrs Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the Harrison Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday).
