Ellis Houston Figgat died suddenly at his home on South Randolph Street, January 1st at 3:15 p.m. He had been a patient sufferer with heart asthma for almost three years and was confined to his room most of the time. For many years he ran an antique business and was well known in the town and county.

Mr. Figgat was born Jan. 29, 1873 in Lexington, the son of William L. Figgatt and Susan Semes his wife.He married Miss Lelia Chittum of Lexington who proceded him to the grave in 1940.

Funeral services were held at the grave in Lexington Presbyterian cemetery at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon conducted by the Rev. D. T. Lauderdale assisted by the Jr. O.U.A.M. of which he was a member for many years.

Surviving are his daughter, Miss Laura Figgatt of Lexington and one sister, Mrs. Anna Houston of Fort Pierce, FL.
