She was born Nov. 13, 1886 near Mt. Crawford and was a daughter of the late Kenney and Mattie Gladden Plecker. On Nov. 16, 1909 she married Charles L. Smiley, who died July 14, 1957.
Mrs. Smiley was a member of Potter Memorial Sunday School Class of Mt. Crawford United Methodist Church and a life member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church.
Surviving, besides Mrs. Robert Simpson, are two other daughters, Mrs. Lester Simmons of Rt. 1, Mt. Solon and Mrs. Carson Elza of Baltimore, Md., a son, Charlie O. Smiley of Madison, Wis; three grandchildren and three great-grand-children. Another son, Harold Leon Smiley, died June 2.
