Herbert Lee Chittum, 87, of Harrisonburg died on Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at Camelot Hall Nursing Home where he had been a patient since December of 1996. He had been ill the past several years.

He was born February 26, 1913 in Mt. Crawford and was the son of the late Arthur Holtzman and Flossie Mae Smiley Chittum.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne E. Chittum of Dayton, and Winston L. Chittum of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Irene Ruddle and Clara Meadows, both of Harrisonburg and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning from the Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg by Rev. Harold Myers. Burial will follow in the Mt. Crawford Cemetery, VA.

Memorial donations may be made to the Harrisonburg United Brethren in Christ Church, PO Box 3, Harrisonburg or the Camelot Hall Nursing Home, 1225 Reservoir Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801. Friends may call anytime at the funeral home.
