Mrs. Rush died Thursday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week.
A daughter of the late Arthur and Flossie Smiley Chittum, she was born at Mount Crawford, but had made her home in Harrisonburg for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Rush was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Blinn Bible Class and was treasurer of the class.
She was married twice. On July 3, 1923, she married Lester A. Hoover, who died in 1966. On Aug. 3, 1968, she married Elwood R. Rush, who survives. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, William Hoover of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Mrs. David Liskey Jr. of Route 6, Harrisonburg; one stepdaughter, Thelma Lilly of Staunton; two sisters, Irene Ruddle of Harrisonburg and Clara Meadows of Bridgewater; one brother, Lee Chitturn of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends 7:30-8:30 p.m. today at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad.
