Lester A. Hoover, 69, a wells known Harrisonburg resident and retired insurance representative died early Wednesday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hoover had been ill for several years. He was a son of Joseph and Minnie Rolston Hoover and was born April 11, 1897 at Singers Glen. He moved to Harrisonburg 40 years ago and resided at 981 S. High Street

Mr. Hoover was associated with the Continental Life Insurance Co. and later the Southland Life Insurance Co. for 16 years before his retirement in 1959. He was a member of the Harrisonburg EUB Church and the Wilt Bible Class of the Church, Fire Co. No. 1 and the United Commercial Travelers.

He Is survived by his wife, the former Miss Ruth Chittum; three children, William J. Hoover of Harrisonburg, Mrs. David Liskey Jr. of Penn Laird and a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Thelma Lilly of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and one brother Weldon Hoover of near Harrisonburg.

The funeral will be conducted 4 p.m. Friday at the Lindsey, Harrlsonburg Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Robert L. Bridgers and the Rev. Gary Olin. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. His body Is at the Lindsey Funeral Home where the family will receive friends today from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Relatives will meet at the Hoover home for a brief service before the funeral. Pallbearers will be J. Richard Wenger, E. S. Harpine, J. R. Derrow, Waymouth C. Miller, E. C. Tutwiler Jr., and W.E. Marvel.
