Roy Jackson Chittum, Sr., age 71, of Fairfield, Route 1, died Friday morning, Jan 22, 1960, in a Staunton hospital. He was born in Rockbridge County, November 6, 1888, a son of the late William Chittum and Jane Topping Chittum.
He was a member of the Fairfield Ruritan Club, Fairfield Methodist Church and was a farmer.
Graveside services were conducted Monday (Jan. 25) at 11 a.m. in the Fairfield cemetery by the Rev. S. W. T. Hedrick.
Mr. Chittum is survived by his wife, Mrs.. Georgeanna Robertson Chittum; one daughter, Mrs. Harry Campbell, Fairfield; two sons, Roy Chittum, Jr. Fairfield and Francis M. Chittum, Leesburg. Also one brother, Elmer Chittum, Fairfield, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
